LONG WEEKEND IN ALTA
Did you know that Alta is only a 2-hour direct flight from Oslo? A perfect starting point for a romantic long weekend or an executive group outing. Here, you can experience unique natural wonders and incredible culinary delights. The itinerary below can, of course, be adjusted to suit your preferences and needs!
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN ALTA
You arrive at Alta Airport and are transferred to Trasti & Trine. In the evening, join an experienced guide on a hunt for the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). Alta is famously known as the “Northern Lights City.” The guides share fascinating insights about the aurora and give tips on how to capture the best photos of this magical phenomenon.
At Trasti & Trine, the focus is on caring for guests, the environment, the local community, and the unique Northern Norwegian character. Johnny Trasti has been creating cuisine inspired by the nature and seasons of Finnmark for over 30 years. Trine is an experienced dog sled driver with more than 20 years of experience and has participated in some of the world’s toughest dog sled races.
DAY 2: DOG SLEDDING
Start the day with a hearty breakfast – today you’ll be a dog sled driver!
You’ll head to the dog yard and receive a card with the names of the dogs assigned to your sled. The harnesses are ready and it’s your job to match each dog to its gear, helping to prepare the team. Once the sled is ready, you lift off and speed through the forest, along rivers, and maybe even up the mountains.
Along the way, there will be a stop to enjoy a warm lunch around the fire. Back at the dog yard, you’ll unharness the dogs and return them to their kennels. A thrilling day full of adventure, fresh air, and unforgettable memories!
DAY 3: SORRISNIVA
Start the day with a hearty breakfast before traveling onwards to Sorrisniva. You’ll stay either at the Ice Hotel or at Sorrisniva Wilderness Lodge, both offering stunning panoramic views of the Alta River.
In the evening, relax at the lodge and enjoy a fantastic dinner at the restaurant Maku, featuring dishes crafted from local ingredients!
DAY 4: WINTER ACTIVITIES
Join an exhilarating snowmobile trip across the Finnmark Plateau, try ice fishing, or learn more about Sami culture while meeting their reindeer.
DAY 5: DEPARTURE
Enjoy a refreshing breakfast and prepare for your journey home. You will be transferred to Alta Airport in sufficient time for your flight.
