DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN ALTA
You arrive at Alta Airport and are transferred to Trasti & Trine. In the evening, join an experienced guide on a hunt for the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). Alta is famously known as the “Northern Lights City.” The guides share fascinating insights about the aurora and give tips on how to capture the best photos of this magical phenomenon.
At Trasti & Trine, the focus is on caring for guests, the environment, the local community, and the unique Northern Norwegian character. Johnny Trasti has been creating cuisine inspired by the nature and seasons of Finnmark for over 30 years. Trine is an experienced dog sled driver with more than 20 years of experience and has participated in some of the world’s toughest dog sled races.

DAY 2: ICE FISHING & SNOWSHOEING
Enjoy a refreshing breakfast before an exciting day in the Norwegian winter landscape. Join an Arctic nature guide for a snowshoe hike to a nearby lake. Here, you’ll drill holes in the ice and learn the basics of ice fishing. Sit on reindeer skins, take in the silence of nature, and wait for a bite. In these freshwater lakes, it’s possible to catch Arctic char, among other fish. If you’re lucky, the guide will help you prepare your catch over an open fire. Around the fire, warm up, share stories, and enjoy lunch before heading back.
How about a relaxing sauna session before a fantastic dinner?

DAY 3: DOG SLEDDING
Start the day with a hearty breakfast, because today you’ll be a musher for the day!
You’ll be taken to the dog yard and given a card with the names of the dogs assigned to your sled. The harnesses are already in place, so all that’s left is to pair up with your team. This way, you help prepare the sled and get to know your dogs.
Once the team is ready, you set off through forests, across rivers, and maybe even up into the mountains. Along the way, stop for a warm lunch around the fire. After returning to the dog yard, the dogs are unharnessed and settled back in their pens.

DAY 4: ICE HOTEL
Today you travel to Sorrisniva, where you will stay at the world’s northernmost ice hotel. The ice hotel is rebuilt every December with a new and unique theme. The structure, all the furniture, and the artistic installations are created by local ice sculptors.
When it’s time to go to bed, you’ll be provided with sleeping bags and pillows, and you’ll rest on warm reindeer hides for a truly Arctic experience.
