ISLAND HOPPING ON THE HELGELAND COAST
Visit enchanting islands, climb spectacular mountain peaks, and immerse yourself in coastal culture and charming island communities.
Island hopping along the Helgeland coast is both beautiful and exciting.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO SANDNESSJØEN
You arrive in Helgeland by plane to Stokka Airport. The afternoon is at your own leisure, but if you’re up for it and the weather is good, you can try climbing one of the Seven Sisters mountains.
Since you don’t have a full day, we recommend starting from the parking area at Markvoll. From here, you can climb either Skjæringen (1037 m.a.s.l.) or the Twins (940 and 980 m.a.s.l.). This hike is often called the “family route” and is suitable for families with children or anyone who wants to enjoy great views without too much exertion, with a steady ascent, and will take around 4–6 hours.

DAY 2: LOVUND
After a delicious breakfast, you’ll take the express boat to Lovund. Here, you’ll stay overnight at the beautiful Lovund Hotel with views of the sea.
Lovund is home to Helgeland’s largest puffin colony, with around 200,000–300,000 birds. The puffins leave the island after the nesting season at the end of August and spend the autumn and winter out at sea outside of Norway and the North Sea.
A hike up Lovundfjellet, 625 m.a.s.l. (approx. 3–5 hours), is also a must when visiting the island. From the top, you’ll have a breathtaking view over the Helgeland coast.

DAY 3: LOVUND OR TRÆNNA
Wake up to panoramic views of the Helgeland coast and enjoy a refreshing breakfast at Lovund Hotel.
The day can be spent exploring Lovund, or how about a trip to Træna? Træna is considered one of Norway’s oldest fishing villages, with archaeological finds from the Stone Age showing that fishing has taken place here for more than 8,000 years. The express boat runs from Lovund to Træna, but we can also arrange a tailor-made RIB adventure.

DAY 4: KLOKKERGÅRDEN
After a refreshing breakfast, you travel by express boat to Rødøy. At the harbor, you’ll be picked up and taken to the elegant Klokkergården.
Rødøy has become one of the hottest destinations in Helgeland, and the hike to the top of Rødøyløva is a real must. Rødøyløva is a famous viewpoint and a golden opportunity to see almost the entire Helgeland coast from one place. In 2018, a Sherpa staircase was built up to Rødøyløva, making the climb easier.
Back at Klokkergården, you’ll be served a delicious dinner in the renowned restaurant.

DAY 5: RØDØY
Today, you’ll go kayaking with Meløy Adventure around the fairytale island of Rødøy. You’ll paddle among islands, islets, and skerries, with views in every direction and the majestic mountain Rødøyløva towering above. This will surely be one of the highlights of the summer. A local guide will take you to a nice spot for a beach break and lunch. Don’t forget a towel for a refreshing swim!
The rest of the day is at your own disposal. A table for dinner will be reserved at Klokkergården.

DAY 6: MYKEN
How about a day trip to Myken? Located far out at sea, about 32 km from the mainland, Myken has in recent years become best known for Myken Distillery – the world’s first Arctic whisky distillery and Norway’s largest whisky producer. Here, you can take a guided tour and taste some of the fine spirits produced on site.
The rest of the day is for your own leisure back on Rødøy. Dinner will also today be reserved at Klokkergården.

DAY 7: STØTT
After breakfast and check-out, you continue by express boat to Støtt. The historic buildings at Støtt exude old coastal culture combined with elegant details. You’ll be warmly welcomed with the same hospitality that traders have received here for centuries.

DAY 8: RIB TO NORDFJORDEN
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at Støtt. Today, you’ll explore Nordfjorden by RIB. Many describe Nordfjorden as Northern Norway’s answer to the Geirangerfjord, with spectacular waterfalls, stunning landscapes, and the chance to see sea eagles, whales, and seals. The fjord stretches 11 kilometres northeast to Nordfjordbotnen beneath the Svartisen glacier.
On this trip, you’ll also cross the Arctic Circle at Buneset – with the opportunity to go ashore. Keep your eyes open: the fjord is home to a large population of harbor seals, and a pilot whale lives there. also frequent the area.

DAY 9: DEPARTURE
After active and adventure-filled days along the Helgeland coast, it’s time to head home. From Støtt, it’s easy to take the express boat to Bodø for your departure.
This trip can of course be customized to your wishes and preferences.
